Reverie II - start

36" x 48" Oil on canvas

Just getting this started....

Meanwhile I've been making frame stock last few days,
with neighbor Randy Taplin, getting my floaters ready for a show.
As a fine furniture & cabinet maker, who has taught
at Yestermorrow Design/Build School,
I'm lucky for his help. Thanks Randy!

Best of Artists

Nectarines
4" x 7" Oil on wood

Here was my 15 minute demo for my
rained out plein air workshop.

My daughter painted this on a box
for a past Christmas present.
As a full time golf instructor
and professional photographer, who knew?

On the PR front, I was recently honored to be selected as a featured artist on the Best of Artists blog : www.bestofartists.com

For any plein artists in Virginia area wanting to be in paint out competition
Labor Day August 29th - September 1st 2008, check out the Art Space at Herndon.

With the steady rain, haven't been out too much.
Have my plein air students today, and we're doing still lifes indoors!

Fall Day

12" x 16" Pastel on spectrum paper

This was my block in start

Betsy added the next layer

then Barbara

then one I forgot
(she did a blueberry picture)

then Carrie

then Martha

except one or two states are missing, because the last one is mine before I totally completed it as it appears at top.

This was done at a paint out with NH and VT
Pastel Society members. Six artists set up
starting with their picture first, and switched
off after the 15 minutes of blocking it in.
We rotated around to next spending 10
minutes at each picture until putting
the final touches on our own.
So five other artists added to this!
(Martha, Carrie, Betsy, Barbara Danser plus
one other drew. And onlookers were
Jayne Shoup, Kappy Fisher in her home, Ann Wickham and Debra Kraemer)
Since it was raining we used photographs
brought for the occasion.

I'll try to post
the others when I receive them and include
the evolution and stages it went through.
It was really fun watching these pastels evolve.

Riding Stable Top Notch Stowe

14" x 16" Oil on canvas

Jan Brough and I drove up the Toll Road
to paint the view again of Mt Mansfield,
and we found the visibility better lower!
The thunder scared us off the most...
I will just have to wonder how painting the misty image would have come out!

Von Trapp Sunlit Lane

9" x 12" Oil on canvas board

The Nursery driveway is on the right
with the sunlight coming through. The
Common Road in Waitsfield, Vermont

10th Hole- Mountain Club Stowe - Spruce Peak

12" x 16" Oil on canvas

Available framed at VT Fine Art Gallery

Detail

There's just the right amount of skiing reference with Mt Mansfield and trails in the background and golf predominating in the summer. The cast shadows from the right
were dramatic relief to all the green... Oh the horror*..(*the greens - see 2 posts ago reference)
