Willow at Wadsworth Pond - #82811
6 x 6 inches Oil on Birch Ply
Here's pond across the street from where I live with Prickly Mountain in backdrop. I planted this willow tree in 1979 thinking it would have long tassels to swing on like the willow I grew up with. Not. Guess I didn't read the label carefully at the nursery about what KIND of willow this was going to be. Hmmm. Lots of different willows it turns out. Kind of a major disappointment, but it has a good presence anyway.
My plein air class happily painting away. We're in the storm path today with heavy rain and wind all day.

Cats on Kleenex Box - #82311
6 x 6 x 12 inches Oil on Tissue Box - SOLD
One Side
Painting commission from iPhone of cat with a heart condition and her buddy who was grooming her.
I didn't have a canvas, and two young girls 7 and 10? asked if I could paint their cat while I was sitting at Red Barn Art Show last Friday. Not having an extra canvas I found this Kleenex box in my car, so I did it for them while their parents were dining.

Vineyard Window - #81211
14 x 14 x 2 inches Oil on Cradled Birch Ply - with 6 x 6 on top
This seemed like a good idea to combine these two paintings as a window within one. It appeared while carrying one on top of the other... oh well...double takes can be fun.
The Mad River Vineyard is such a lovely place to paint. I'll be posting another one next week.
Meanwhile tomorrow is The Great Plein Air Paint Out in the Mad River Valley in Warren and Waitsfield Villages. If you're around come visit the artists who will be all around. Two covered bridges, rivers, waterfalls, nice architecture, trees, churches.. lots of subjects to paint!
And next Saturday August 20 will be my Open Studio...I've started to hang paintings salon style, as well as sort my bins of inventory.. I bet I easily have 300 paintings to paw through! Figures are on one side, landscapes on another.
These are 8 x 10 or 11 x 14 in Oil with various frames...
Make an offer if you see one you like!~

Blake - #8611
14 x 16 inches Oil on canvas SOLD
This was earlier stage, before the final above. I tried to soften the braces, enhance the eyes, and get the color better. Blake sat for this entirely which made it great to do, he took breaks every 20 minutes..
Every August 6 I like to do a painting in Memorial for Hiroshima, and entitle them all "That Sheep May Safely Graze"...
