This is the start of the painting over a plein air landscape done in Maine with water.
Here's the orientation of landscape which is about to disappear.
Sometimes I sand down the surface of previous paint before painting over, and sometimes I don't get to it. Sometimes I like the build up of texture beneath the top painting.
