This was one of the first paintings I did some years ago after arriving in Scottsdale Arizona to spend my first winter. Ed Mell has terrific paintings at the Overland Gallery, and I think I saw some at the Mayo Clinic here as well. A modern Maynard Dixon if you will, with stylized and definite shapes to values. I thought I might learn something about the mountain shapes and his colors doing this painting
