Rock Jump - #81913 by Candy Barr

6 x 6 inches Oil on Birch Ply

I saw a young boy do a back flip off this and it made me cringe
thinking of the danger of it all.  A fun day to be swimming though.

Pond Reflection - #81313 by Candy Barr

 8 x 10 Inches Oil on canvas

This was demo for my Plein Air Workshop that started today.
We had to begin indoors due to the heavy rain, and were lucky enough
after lunch to be able to paint outside

 on location

How many plein air painters do you see with a Julian Easel strapped
to their BMW motorcycle?  And Jim arrived in the rain coming from
1 hour away in Calais!

Almost as good as George Coll in Colorado
traveling to his painting sites with his two pack llamas hauling his gear!

Lantana - #81213 by Candy Barr

9 x 12 inches Oil on cradled Birch

Painting in the garden last week put me in the mood to paint
more flowers.  It's interesting to become lost in the patterns and contrasts
and vivid colors, without any horizon line for a change.  No vase or table
for orientation.

My Plein Air workshop takes place Tuesday & Wednesday this week.

We're preparing for the Great Plein AIr Paint Out
happening on Bridge St, Waitsfield, Vermont
Two day event thru the VT Arts Festival

And here's the cover photo this week for our Valley Reporter:

Leslie Reynolds on my right from my Wednesday Plein Air Class!
My demo was on the ground by easel... The Bragg Farm
now purchased by the VT LAND TRUST.
The painting on my easel I posted that night August 4.

Caroline - #8913 by Candy Barr

12 x 12 inches Oil on canvas SOLD

Her allergies were killing her beautiful eyes, or I would have liked to remain outside longer.
Perhaps I should make the background a darker green to help the filtered back light
read better.  Who thought doing a portrait with this light was a good idea?
I'll be doing her portrait again have no fear.

the Start ( standing in shaded part )

Mehdi Fallahian, plein air painter from Palm Springs

Every August 6th I try to paint a memorial on the anniversary of the bomb dropping on
Hiroshima, and title it the same, "That Sheep May Safely Graze"

Medhi happened to call me to see if I wanted to join him as he was visiting his doctor son and doctor daughter in law in Waterbury Center!  No way...last time I saw him we painted together in Palm Springs probably 8 years ago!  He spotted some work of mine in Artisans Gallery in town here.  We also painted with Terry Masters in Palm Springs, who now runs the Desert Painter Gallery there as well as teaches Plein Air workshops.
