Boats in Grey - #62311

6 x 6 inches Oil on Birch Ply

Continuation of gray studies with Colin Page from last week. I found these outdoor value studies to be a really good reminder of priorities when challenged by plein air and changing light (or movement as well in case of water and boats!~)

Repose

6" x 6" Oil on masonite study

Honestly, I forgot my paint palette at the open session, and had only
white and a tint with a dirty rag from the day at Bulldog Canyon. I was
able to get some pretty good color from the rag for contrast. I tried a little
monoprint technique, of wiping away for the highlights, as well as painting
directly into image.
