Boats Up

12 x 12 inches Oil on canvas

From Savage Island overlooking Lake Champlain,
two rowboats could be on any beach anywhere.
This one was done a few years ago, and I'm pulling out any boat paintings.

Cisco ~ Horse portrait

8 x 10 inches Oil on canvas board ~ Final

Better contrast, brightened up, and
simplified composition

in process ~
at the rail which gets eliminated and the bit of building

Well they are a moving target, but it was surely fun
to paint studies of horses.

The riders come locally on Sunday mornings,
tie up their horse and have coffee together, having
riden together earlier.

The owners of these horses came out
and rode off before I could get the pinto in.

Riding Stable Top Notch Stowe

14" x 16" Oil on canvas

Jan Brough and I drove up the Toll Road
to paint the view again of Mt Mansfield,
and we found the visibility better lower!
The thunder scared us off the most...
I will just have to wonder how painting the misty image would have come out!

10th Hole- Mountain Club Stowe - Spruce Peak

12" x 16" Oil on canvas

Available framed at VT Fine Art Gallery

Detail

There's just the right amount of skiing reference with Mt Mansfield and trails in the background and golf predominating in the summer. The cast shadows from the right
were dramatic relief to all the green... Oh the horror*..(*the greens - see 2 posts ago reference)

This is looking over at 13th green and 14th Tee box
from the 10th green.
I had an affinity for Fairfield Porter's
dislike of using green.

Waves III

5.5" x 12" Oil on hardboard

$175. + S/H SOLD

I was listening to NPR while I was painting.
An interesting ambassador from Sudan,
speaking about boundaries and
the insurgency and Dafur. He lived in the US teaching
in the Chicago area I believe for nearly 20 years,
then returned to Africa.
The history of troubles seem to have begun with the British
rule, and then their wanting independence, like
others around them having gotten independence
from the British. Who's in charge seems
to be where they are stuck.
Is it to be a dictatorship or democracy?
All the fighting trying to decide meanwhile,
where so many innocent people suffer the
turmoil and instability around them.

What an honor and priviledge
standing on a beach figuring out the
complexities of the waves in oils.
