DInghy, Charcoal on Cansen Tientes Paper 19" × 25" by Candy Barr

19" × 25" (483 mm × 635 mm)

I matted and framed in 24 x 36 inch black frame.
Please contact me if interested in purchasing.

Back from Maine with gorgeous weather. Sometimes too windy to set up on the beach, but perfect for blowing laundry on the line.

Discovered a butane mosquito repellent to paint with in the deep woods.
 What a break through!

'Ruth' Sebasco Harbor Resort - #63011

8 x 10 inches Oil on canvas

After painting on the drizzly day, I returned to Sebasco Harbor Resort dock to paint Ruth.

Cruises Aboard the Ruth

"The Ruth

Our own tour boat, the Ruth, is the center of much of that activity and has been delighting our guests since her launch in 1935. We offer a number of trips during the summer months, including scenic harbor and nature cruises, pirate cruises, and lunch cruises.

All scheduled trips aboard the Ruth are reserved seating and reservations should be made in advance to avoid disappointment."

The evening light of the day is the last tour for 'Ruth'. The sparkles on the water are dazzling.

Fishing Boat - #61811

6 x 6 inches Oil on Birch Ply
Another 20 minute study in grey. With the wind changing and the boat heading in a different direction continuously consequently, it's a challenge to get the alignment just right. You can see how this might have come out very different had I painted it from the photograph. You catch prominent factors when working from life, squinting and catching the values more easily. In a photograph, the values have already been flattened out and less color is available to see.

Pull Start -#61611

6 x 6 inches Oil on Birch Ply

$125. +S/H

I kind of like the two of these juxtaposed together...the bright orange foul weather gear is nice against the greys.

Leslie's Pond

12 x 12 inches Oil on canvas

Blocking in the painting over an old painting done on a beach in Malibu.

The trout were waiting to be fed and come when you walk on the dock!

Hamptons Speedboating

6 x 12 Inches Oil on canvas board
This was on the bay

$125. + S/H

Spent the weekend on Long Island and was able to be on the beach in Southampton as after Sept 15 you don't need a village permit sticker!

The waves and sand were gorgeous.

Yellow Boat

6 x 6 inches Oil on hardboard

$99 + S/H

This painting I did in earlier this summer, just working
with the great shape of a rowboat and some fun color.
And on another note:

We had a wonderful opening at the Wood Art Gallery last night.
Probably 400 to 500 people dropped in.

My painting "Take Me to the River"
on the wall beyond someone's granite "Speed Skater"

The Figure & Beyond
A Show of Work by Artist Billy Brauer and his Students of the Past 40 Years

August 25 to October 25, 2009

A few of my classmates pointed to me and told me I had the "best in the show".
Affirmations are always nice to hear!

Strung Up - #8909

8 x 10 inches Oil on canvas board Framed SOLD

Boats are so fun to look at in the water,
to have a ride in, and just as much fun
to paint! This one lives in this rustic
frame, but it would probably be
dazzling in a gold plein air frame
as well.

High Seas

7" x 9" Oil on wood SOLD

The photo is of the full moon from the porch view.
The ship just came about on a double level as a good idea.
Art is about having fun and taking risks. It's engaging
and transformative.
